Pia de' Tolomei

The name

Pia de' Tolomei

The name evokes Pia de' Tolomei, the Sienese noblewoman whom Dante places in Purgatorio, Canto V — "Siena made me, Maremma unmade me" — and her family, among the great protagonists of this land's history. A name that binds poetry to history, Siena to the Maremma.

The spaces

Where the light changes

On the second floor, the living room and open kitchen open up beneath high ceilings, with exposed wooden beams. On the third floor, the bedroom offers one of the tower's rarest details: a direct view of the 18th-century timber-truss roof structure, set upon a bell tower that was already seven centuries old. Every floor has its own bathroom.
